Star Wars: Battlefront 2 May Have a Different Voice Actor for Obi-Wan

Fans who have been following the Star Wars franchise beyond the movies, you're probably familiar with James Arnold Taylor. He's the guy who has been voicing Obi-Wan Kenobi for the longest time, that some fans may equate him to the role after everyone's favorite, Ewan McGregor.

However, this may not be the case when Star Wars: Battlefront 2 comes out. That's because Taylor himself shared that his return for that installment hasn't been confirmed or even hinted.

One fan had asked over Reddit if he will be returning to the franchise. It's here that Taylor broke the bad news:

"That's very nice but I think that time has passed."

When the fan tried to confirm this, Taylor gave a few more details as to why this isn't happening:

"Not that I wouldn't love to voice him, I've just not been asked so perhaps they are going a different direction."

This is surprising if only because we know that Obi-Wan will still be in Star Wars: Battlefront 2, at least as a character. Even if the focus right now is the Imperial side, we never lost sight of the heroes on the Rebel side. In the trailer, we've already seen the likes of Luke Skywalker and Rey, as well as a hint of Yoda. So we know that, even if the Imperial members are the ones taking the heroic stance, there will be those from the side of the Force present in the battle.

We have yet to confirm what exactly will happen with Obi-Wan's voice actor—but here's to hoping it will be someone who's familiar with the legendary Jedi.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be out on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One on Nov. 17.
