After working on the last two Avengers movies, Robert Downey Jr. is currently set to play the lead in The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle. He has also expressed his interest in returning to the Sherlock Holmes franchise, to which Warner Bros has just announced the release date.
As per ComicBookMovie, Sherlock Holmes 3 is set to come out on Dec. 25, 2020. That would make the film have to compete with James Cameron's Avatar sequel as well as a still untitled Disney live-action film.
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are expected to come back as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, but we still have no news on whether Guy Ricthie is coming back to direct. We do know that the script for this movie will be coming from Chris Brancato, who has worked on Hannibal.
It has been almost a decade since the release of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and it's worth noting that both installments in the franchise have made a lot of money in the box office. I'm crossing my fingers that they get Ritchie onboard as he was responsible for setting the tone of the first two films, making them as memorable as they were.
