Dr Strange 2 Villains: Who They Are and What to Expect

Unlike Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Doctor Strange sequel has somehow kept itself pretty under wraps with little information being revealed or leaked about its plot, cast easter eggs for the Fourth Phase of The MCU. However, despite there being little confirmed information about the upcoming Multiverse Of Madness, fans and insiders have a few clues as to who the upcoming villains will be in the battle of the mystic arts.

The first Doctor Strange film was released in 2016, where we saw Doctor Strange trap Dormammu from the dark dimension in an infinite time-loop making him his prisoner after he "refused Strange's bargain". However, we also slowly saw Chiwitel Ejiofor's character Mordo, go from becoming Doctor Strange's ally and teacher to someone who in the comics becomes Doctor Strange's arch-nemesis.

Towards the end of Doctor Strange, we see Mordo lose faith in the teachings of The Ancient One and he eventually ends up visiting Jonothan Pangborn, the man who informed Stephen Strange of The Ancient One, and Mordo attacks him, taking away his power to walk before finally saying:

"I see at long last what's wrong with the world. Too many sorcerers."

Could we see a return of Mordo in The Multiverse of Madness as he continues his mission to destroy the sorcerers in every dimension?

Shuma-Gorath as Villain in Doctor Strange 2

According to insider and superhero story scooper Daniel Richtman, it's reported that the primary antagonist will be the elder god Shuma-Gorath, who usually appears in the comics as a tentacled devourer of worlds.

Before all was, I was. Before time was, I waited. I fed on the screaming souls of the universes. I drank the spoiled milk of dead stars. I am the emptiness outside all understanding. I am Shuma-Gorath.

Shuma-Gorath is a cosmic entity that possesses a vast number of powers. He is considered to be both omnipotent and one of the primal powers of chaos. He can use mystic energy to be able to deliver powerful blasts as well as produce psychic abilities such as telepathy and mind control.

America Chavez/ Miss America

Despite not being a villain, it is confirmed that Xochitl Gomez will be debuting the role of America Chavez (Miss America) in MCU's Multiverse of Madness. Miss America has some extraordinary abilities including super strength, stamina, durability, and the power of flight. The power that will be most relevant to this story will most likely be her power to punch a literal hole into other realities, allowing her and others to move into different dimensions.

It is believed that Shuma-Gorath will want to use her powers to move into these different realities causing pure chaos.

Nightmare

Some sources also report that Nightmare could be playing the lead villain in the new Dr. Strange film, although like Shuma-Gorath, this has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios yet.

Nightmare is considered a deity bound to all aspects of reality. He has the ability to project into people's dreams and possess their bodies while simultaneously able to possess their astral forms and lock them into his own realities, literally being able to imprison people's consciousness while their bodies remain helpless. As Doctor Strange uses astral projection for his benefit, we can see that Nightmare is a powerful adversary.

Wanda Waximoff

In Wandavision, we saw Wanda Maximoff go from struggling to levitate wooden blocks, to being able to unleash more of the full power of Scarlett Witch as she begins harnessing the power and wisdom of The Darkhold. Some believe that Mordo may enter as her friend while attempting to harness the power for himself in his own mission.

That, or maybe Shuma-Gorath will use his connection to The Darkhold to target Scarlet Witch to do his bidding.

So even though Marvel Studios haven't technically leaked and spoilers or footage just yet, nothing is truly confirmed by an official spokesperson for Marvel in regards to its villains and plot. However, we're hoping that more will be released in the upcoming months.

Doctor Strange 2: In The Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to release on March 25, 2022 and we cannot wait to see more dimensions of this next phase. Which Villains are you hoping will face Doctor Strange in this sequel?
