Russo Brothers: Avengers Infinity War Will Have Thor Undergo A 'Radical Transformation'

The end of Thor: Ragnarok saw the most changes with the God of Thunder what with him losing his hammer, an eye, and his lovely blonde locks. With him returning in Avengers: Infinity War, directors Joe and Anthony Russo tease even more changes for the Son of Odin.

Talking to Marvel Studios Movies, the Russos explain:

"I think it's very similar to Captain America's situation when we picked up his story in Winter Solider when Joe and I came on to do our first movie for Marvel. Cap was in a place where we were very much catching him up in the modern world and seeing what that meant to him, and figuring out how you move a character that far forward and that far away from where they started back during the 40s, so I think in Thor we have similar opportunities with that character in this movie is that he's going through a radical transformation and he's moving forward in a way where he can never go back, and that's always a fun place to be with a character as a storyteller."

With Asgard in ruins and its people nowhere to go, Thor is already pretty much going through a rough patch. I can only imagine what more tragedies are in store for him. Is he going to lose his arm like in the comics? Captain America doesn't die at the end of Civil War, but Thor gets all the losses?

With the Russo brothers pulling off a great juggling act with Captain America: Civil War, I hope they're able to do something better with Infinity War. Sure Joss Whedon buckled under the pressure of Age of Ultron, but with the Russo brothers being a pair, I'm sure they can handle something as huge as this film.

Avengers: Infinity War comes out May 4, 2018.
