Rumor: Lucasfilm was Working on a Mos Eisley Spinoff

"Mos Eisley Spaceport… You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Reports came out yesterday that Lucasfilm cancelled their Star Wars anthology films, but now it's said that those reports were actually inaccurate. Everyone is still trying to piece together what actually happened behind the scenes, and it looks like someone has found the explanation.

According to Making Star Wars, Lucasfilm had made a reservation at Pinewoods Studios to make a Mos Eisley anthology movie, and that was the project that was cancelled, leading Lucasfilm to relinquish their reservation.

It seems that the cancellation at Pinewood was what lead people to believe that Lucasfilm had quit on the standalone movies, but what really happened was that Lucasfilm decided to postpone the Mos Eisley project, and some jumped the gun and assumed that the Obi-Wan and Boba Fett movies were also cut off.

Of course, these are all just rumors and speculation, so it's best that we wait for Lucasfilm to make their official announcement before considering what part of the news is sure. So far, only the news that movies were being developed outside of the trilogies had the source that was directly from Lucasfilm.

For now, the only Star Wars movie with a release date is Episode IX. Catch it in theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
