Rihanna Talks About Valerian’s Bubble

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets has been in production for a decade for director Luc Besson. And his passion shows through—so much so that singer Rihanna, who has been seen in trailers for the movie, has enjoyed working on the project.

Sharing with Lain Networks, the singer talked about what exactly appealed to her about Valerian, and among that is her character, Bubble. According to Rihanna, viewers will be introduced to Bubbles in the cabaret, and from the looks of it, Bubble seems to be a sensitive artist at heart—to the point that she doesn't want people getting too in-your-face with her art:

"She's in this place and she has to perform and the thing that makes her feel free is her performing, her being an artist, her becoming whatever and making people happy in that way. She's an entertainer."

Even though her character is mostly focused on art, Rihanna herself is pretty interested in the sci-fi aspect of the movie. She said that Valerian, in particular, is grounded enough in reality without being too real and gritty. We've already seen glimpses of the world in the movie, so I guess that speaks for itself.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will be out in theaters on July. It stars Cara Delavingne, Dane Dehann, Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, and Rihanna.
