This explains why she has nape-length hair. She also wears male clothing or clothes that have a lot of layers to hide her feminine features.

After Tohru met Akito for the first time, she thought Akito is a beautiful male like Yuki. She was surprised when Kureno revealed Akito's real gender and the fact that it was hidden from the other Zodiac members except for Kureno, Shigure, Hatori, and Ayame.
