Pokemon Sun and Moon Dominates Sales Numbers

Pokemon Sun and Moon is proving its mettle to the Nintendo franchise.

In a recent review of sales numbers for the UK and the U.S. (via VG 247), the game is one of those that dominated the charts, proving that Nintendo still as a good hold over the market and the players with the right kind of games.

According to Metro, the November trend has shown that Pokemon Sun and Moon would have overtaken Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in terms of combined sales. This is based on the monthly report from NPD, though it does not include numbers crunched for the digital platform.

As per the November 2016 top 10 software chart, Pokemon Sun is technically at third place, while Pokemon Moon is at a close 4th place. Call of Duty Infinite Warfare leads at first followed by Battlefield 1. However, since Pokemon Sun and Moon can essentially be taken as one game given its variant mechanics, the numbers mean that the game have performed very well in relation to it.

Even with this, the report continues hat overall blockbusters are down by everything compared to last year's sales landscape. To be fair, this is in comparison to quite a big year from last year, which saw not only Call of Duty Black Ops 3, but also Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront.

"Battlefield 1 launched in October, and Pokemon Sun launched at a lower [price] than last November's console games. As all of the titles outside of the top three grew a combined 12% vs year ago, it is the top three title grouping that drove the year-on-year decline."

Even with the decline, it should be noted that Pokemon Sun and Moon titles remain to be Nintendo's strongest launch for its 3Ds and the franchise history. It had even overtaken the hit Pokemon Black and White.
