Pablo Hidalgo Confirms Major Character Reunion In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Though the Star Wars sequel trilogy has slowly been giving way to a new set of heroes and villains, the continuation of the Skywalker saga still puts a lot of attention to the original trilogy legends. While The Force Awakens did give a lot of focus on Harisson Ford's Han Solo only to end his story on the big screen, the film's sequel, The Last Jedi is set to reunite two major characters from the franchise: Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker, and the late Carrie Fisher's Leia Organa.

Speaking at the Comic Con of Chile (via Star Wars News Net), Pablo Hidalgo, a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group, confirmed that the Skywalker twins would finally reunite in The Last Jedi.

Though Hidalgo hasn't discussed how the two would meet, it's possible that Leia might find herself in Ahch-To or that Luke would wind up in the Resistance Base on D'Qar.

There have been some doubt on Hidalgo's admission regarding Luke and Leia's reunion, however Prensalmperial who was also at the event has also given confirmation that Hidalgo discussed the matter during Comic Con Chile.

"I confirmed this with Pablo himself when it was my turn to sign the poster for The Last Jedi. I showed him my cell phone with the Twitter post that comes up and Pablo, kindly (and very nice) said yes, in a scene Luke and Leia would meet and made the meeting gesture, something like: (fist bumps)."

Hiding himself away in Ahch-To, Luke hasn't been able to see his twin sister in years. With the tragic and untimely passing of Fisher back in December last year, the reunion between the two will have twice the emotional charge once it happens on the big screen.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
