Star Wars fans might have been conflicted after hearing that Lucasfilm decided to bring back the late Carrie Fisher's General Leia Organa in Star Wars: Episode IX by making use of old, unused footage from The Last Jedi, but Oscar Isaac says he's nothing but happy.
The Star Wars sequel trilogy star recently spoke with Yahoo! Entertainment about the criticism he received over Poe Dameron's character arc in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. During the interview with the publication, the topic of Leia's return came up, and Isaac couldn't help but gush over the anticipation of having the Star Wars princess on the big screen again.
"I'm very happy about that (J.J. Abram's decision to feature Carrie in Episode IX)," Isaac admits. "I think it'll be a wonderful way to deal with this character that we all love so much."
Isaac's comments are very much like that of Star Wars legend Mark Hamill who was more than excited when Lucasfilm announced that Leia would still be a part of Episode IX. Leia was originally meant to take the spotlight in the third and final installment in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, however, Fisher passed away before she could finish shooting her scenes for the film.
Though we have no idea how much footage of Carrie from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi Abrams and his creative team have to work with, we certainly hope that they'll be able to complete Leia's arc in Episode IX.
Star Wars: Episode IX is set to hit theatres on December 20, 2019.
