Have you been hoping for some badly needed X-Men content? It looks like you'll only have to wait a little longer. The producer behind X-Men: The Animated Series has just offered an update on the planned revival on Disney+ and it sounds promising.
It's no secret that the X-Men animated series was one of the biggest reasons why the mutants became pop culture icons. The show, which aired from 1992 to 1997, introduced kids and adults alike to Wolverine, Rogue, Cyclops, Gambit, Jean Grey, and more in a span of five seasons. Not surprisingly, fans got excited when it was revealed that Disney is hoping to revive the series and that the reboot will be aired on their streaming service. But when exactly can we expect the new show?
Larry Houston, who produced and directed the original series, has confirmed at a panel at Wizard World that he has already discussed plans with Disney.
"We've had talks, but that's about it," Houston said. "We've made conversation and it's up to them to make the decision, but we've let them know that we're all available for whatever they want to do in the future."
Interestingly, Houston also admitted that he is interested in coming out of semi-retirement to work on the series, but only "if we could do a special, a one-off episode, or a five-part episode."
Although it sounds like it will take some time before the revival starts development, it's good to know that Disney is openly pursuing an X-Men project. Hopefully, we'll get an official announcement about the project soon.
