X-Force: Ryan Reynolds X-Men Film Might Be Fox's Next Major Project

The future of X-Men films has been uncertain after the Walt Disney Company acquired 20th Century Fox earlier this year. Nevertheless, Drew Goddard is optimistic that Ryan Reynolds' X-Force movie will begin production really soon.

Goddard recently spoke to Den of Geek about his new film Bad Times at the El Royale. Although he was initially wary about offering any updates on X-Force, the Marvel's Daredevil creator did admit he will be meeting up with all the important people once his current project is released.

"I tend to focus very intensely on one project at a time. I sort of am just finishing up Bad Times here. I think once we do that, once we've birthed this movie out into the world, then it'll be time to [figure out] what's next, and meet with Ryan, and Fox and Disney, and figure out what makes sense."

But what are the chances that X-Force will be Fox's next big film? Goddard says it is possible considering that he and Reynolds have "a very good communication." However, the decision will still be made by the big bosses.

"I think when you're dealing with billion-dollar mergers, it's hard to know what's going to happen to be honest. Like when Disney and Fox are combining, those issues are so far above our pay grade! I've learned to just be patient and wait and see what happens, and go from there."

Although Goddard is not quite ready to reveal anything, Simon Kinberg has already hinted at X-Force immediately getting started as soon as Goddard is available. The Dark Phoenix director even confirmed that Fox is moving forward with the other X-Men films like Gambit and Multiple Man.

X-Force has not yet been given an official release date. Goddard's Bad Times at the El Royale will hit theaters on October 12.
