The latest episode of What If...? was truly mindblowing as it brought back Ultron. But did James Spader return to provide the voice of the AI with the god complex? Interestingly, Ultron was actually played by another Marvel Cinematic Universe star who had appeared in Avengers: Endgame.
Ultron is the main character in What If...? Episode 8 as the AI manages to procure the Mind Stone along with Vision's vibranium body. This made it easy for him to defeat the Avengers and eradicate life in the universe. Ultron later went after The Watcher who then turned to Doctor Strange for help.
Watching What If... Ultron Won? made fans feel like they were hearing Spader all over again. However, the AI was actually voiced byThe Walking Dead star Ross Marquand.
Marquand is no stranger to playing established characters in the MCU. He had previously taken over the role of Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame (as well as the What If...? premiere episode). Marquand is the perfect choice as Ultron considering that he does amazingly accurate impressions of celebrities just like Spader so this was a no-brainer.
Interestingly, we could be seeing more of Ultron next week. The latest episode concluded with the AI on the hunt for The Watcher and he could continue to be the Big Bad in the What If...? finale. Needless to say, we can't wait to see what will happen to Ultron next week.
