Venom 2 Director Reveals How Carnage is Connected to Eddie Brock

Fans are understandably hyped up for Venom: Let There Be Carnage after the release of the sequel's first trailer. So what do we need to know about Cletus Kasady in the upcoming film? Director Andy Serkis shared some interesting details about the terrifying new villain and his connection to Eddie Brock.

We already met Cletus in the first Venom film where he was introduced in the mid-credits sequence. Although we only saw a glimpse of the character, it was clear that Cletus is a dangerous man. However, Serkis told IGN that Cletus is similar to Eddie Brock in a way that Carnage is pretty similar to Venom.

"With all symbiotes, they reflect the person who is their host," Serkis said. "So the darkness of Carnage, the playfulness, the wit, the strangeness. Cletus has a real intelligence and… a real sense of humor, and we wanted to reflect that in the symbiote that is linked to him."

Cletus certainly sounds like the perfect character for Woody Harrelson to play considering that he's portrayed a lot of dark yet playful characters in the past. With that in mind, we can't wait to see Carnage in action in Venom 2.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will bring back Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock aka Venom and Michelle Williams as Anne Weying. It will also introduce Naomie Harris as Cletus' love interest Shriek. The film is scheduled for release on September 24, 2021.
