Venom 2 Casts Boardwalk Empire's Stephen Graham in Mystery Role

It looks like Venom 2 has just cast its first wildcard. The highly anticipated sequel has added Boardwalk Empire star Stephen Graham in a mystery role.

The casting news was reported by Deadline, which confirms that Graham's role is still undisclosed. For now, we can only speculate whether the Snatch actor will be one of the good guys helping Eddie Brock or if he's going to join forces with Cletus Kasady.

Casting Graham is certainly an interesting move for Venom 2 considering that the English actor is known for playing ambiguous roles. For instance, his character in the Pirates of the Caribbean films was originally thought to be a mean pirate but ended up becoming an ally to Captain Jack Sparrow. With that in mind, we're looking forward to seeing Graham in action in the sequel.

Graham is best known for playing Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire although he has also turned in awesome performances in films like Gangs of New York, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Rocketman. His most recent work is on Martin Scorsese's The Irishman.

Venom 2 will be directed by Andy Serkis and will bring back Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, and Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady. Naomie Harris has previously been confirmed to join the cast as Frances Barrison aka Shriek. The film is currently being shot and is scheduled for release on October 2, 2020.
