ThunderCats Movie Confirmed at Warner Bros and Godzilla vs Kong Director

It has been a long wait but it has been worth it. A ThunderCats movie is finally in the works at Warner Bros. and the studio confirmed that Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard will be taking over the project.

Deadline confirms that Wingard has signed on to direct the ThunderCats movie which was being developed by Rideback's Dan Lin and Vertigo's Roy Lee. Although there was an early script penned by David Coggeshall, Wingard himself will rewrite the screenplay with Simon Barrett.

So does this mean that we will finally see Lion-O, Cheetarah, Panthro, Tigra, Jaga, Wilykit, Wilykat, and Snarf in live-action? The report points out that the project will be "a hybrid of CGI and animation." This sounds like an excellent plan considering that some fans were unsure about how the ThunderCats would look in live-action.

ThunderCats was an animated television series that debuted back in 1985 that followed the adventures of catlike humanoid aliens on Third Earth. After fleeing their home planet Thundera, they end up on the new planet while trying to protect the Eye of Thundera from the villainous Mumm-Ra and the Mutants of Plun-Darr.

The ThunderCats film is still in early development and has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
