The New Mutants Co-Creator Clarifies Negative Comments about X-Men Spin-Off Film

If you have been checking social media for the past few days, there's a good chance you're wondering why there is so much hate for The New Mutants and the way it has adapted by Josh Boone. The criticism actually stems from a tweet by New Mutants co-creator Bob McLeod who is now trying to clarify his comments about the X-Men spin-off film.

McLeod recently tweeted out his annoyance with how his name was misspelled in the New Mutants credits. "I think I'm done with this movie," the artist wrote. Not surprisingly, the tweet was immediately noticed by fans and news outlets who believed that McLeod was dissing the film. However, McLeod took the time to clarify what he had meant in a new post. Check it out below.

"I'm a bit overwhelmed by the explosive news coverage my comments yesterday about the New Mutants movie received. For the record, I did not say it was a bad film. I haven't even seen it, and I think it looks like great fun, actually," McLeod wrote. He also pointed out that he had nothing against Henry Zaga, who plays Sunspot in the movie.

In addition to all that, McLeod expressed his appreciation for Bill Sienkiewicz and his art.

"I'm also a big fan of Bill's art. The main thing that upset me was the misspelling of my name in the credits, which I've since learned has happened many times to many creators. I'll get over it. Everyone needs to calm down," McLeod wrote.

McLeod's name had been spelled Bob MacLeod in the credits of The New Mutants. Hopefully, this will be fixed once the movie is made available on digital.

The New Mutants is currently screening in theaters in the US.
