If you tuned in for the premiere episode of The Mandalorian Season 2, there's a good chance you're still hyped up about the little surprise at the end of Chapter 9: The Marshal. However, there's also another awesome thing that happened in the episode and it had a lot to do with the gigantic Star Wars Legends mythical creature that was brought to live-action.

In Chapter 9: The Marshal, Din Djarin tracked down someone who has been seen wearing a Mandalorian armor and serving as the marshal in the Tatooine city of Mos Pelgo. However, he discovers that the man named Cobb Vanth isn't actually a Mandalorian and had simply procured the armor through Tusken Raiders.
Since it is forbidden for someone who is not Mandalorian to wear the armor, Djarin tries to get it back from Vanth. They make a deal that Djarin would help Vanth's town in exchange for the armor and get help from Tusken Raiders to get rid of a massive Krayt Dragon that threatens the city.
The Krayt Dragon isn't exactly a new thing in the Star Wars Universe. Its remains have been spotted in A New Hope and it appears in several Legends stories. Most notably, the pearls in the dragon's belly have been used to forge a lightsaber, as noted in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. However, The Mandalorian Season 2 offers our first live-action look at the creature which can actually grow large enough to consume a Sarlacc.
So perhaps that Krayt Dragon may have been a threat but it might also be the one who saved that mysterious character who appeared at the end of the episode. Perhaps we'll learn the truth in the next few episodes.
