The Mandalorian Actor Werner Herzog Admits He's Never Seen A Star Wars Movie

It's no secret that Star Wars is one of the most successful franchises in the world today. The original trilogy has spawned several TV shows, books, comics, a Disneyland theme, and more movies in the past four decades. However, there are still a few people who have never seen a Star Wars film. One of them just happens to be Werner Herzog, who will appear in the new Disney+ series The Mandalorian.

Werner Herzog recently spoke to Associated Press about his new Star Wars project where he will be in front of the camera instead of being behind it. The Aguirre, the Wrath of God director confessed that although he admires the franchise, he has yet to see a Star Wars movie in its full glory.

"I have to confess I never saw a single one," Herzog said. "I've seen some trailers, I've seen some excerpts here and there. And I know about the whole franchise and about the toys for the kids, and so... it's all a new mythology of a time of some sort of heroics, and it has created new mythologies, and you better take them seriously. Yes, they're out there, and don't ignore them."

It's interesting to know that Herzog, who has been directing films since the late 1960s, has been relatively oblivious of Star Wars despite being active in the industry. Perhaps this will change once The Mandalorian premieres later this year.

The Mandalorian is being created for the streaming service by The Lion King director Jon Favreau and will star Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Omid Abtahi, and Emily Swallow. The series is expected to air on Disney+ by November.
