The Goonies Sequel Possibly Happening With Richard Donner's Blessing

The Coronavirus outbreak has already delayed several films and TV shows that are in various stages of development. However, there's one huge pitch that is currently being put on hold that might make people wish the pandemic will be over soon. The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg has just revealed he is supposed to meet up with the legendary Richard Donner in hopes of getting the latter's blessing for a possible The Goonies sequel.

Goldberg recently took to his official Twitter account to share some updates on his mandatory self-quarantine. Interestingly, the Schooled executive producer admitted that he has been working on Goonies 2 and almost had a meeting with Donner that needed to be cancelled. Take a look at his tweet below.

"I rival @joshgad as ultimate fan of #TheGoonies. For the last 9 years I've been secretly writing PART 2 for fun. It's my masterpiece. I even had a big meeting scheduled with Richard Donner… canceled 'cause of the lockdown! THE GOONIES 2 WILL happen when life resumes. Promise!!!" Goldberg wrote.

If you look closely, Goldberg's planned title for the sequel is The Goonies II: Never Say Die. The script is even labelled as a "presentation" for the Superman director. For now, Goldberg hasn't shared too many details about his pitch but we're hoping that he gets his meeting with Donner soon.

The Goonies was released in 1985 and it starred Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, and Joe Pantoliano. Although there have been plans for a second film, the movie has yet to have an official sequel.
