The Flash Movie Adds Sasha Calle as New Supergirl

There's finally some exciting news about The Flash movie. The upcoming DC Extended Universe flick has just added The Young and The Restless star Sasha Calle as the new Supergirl.

The announcement was made on Instagram by director Andy Muschietti, who shared a video of his Zoom call with Calle when he dropped the news. Check it out below.

Muschietti confirmed with Deadline that there were hundreds of young actresses who auditioned for the role of Supergirl. However, Calle proved to be the one who would truly stand out.

"I saw more than four hundred auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role," Muschietti said.

The report also revealed that Calle did a chemistry read with The Flash star Ezra Miller via Zoom. This little detail could confirm that Supergirl will play an important role in the upcoming Warner Bros. film and might appear in more projects in the DCEU.

Calle is best known for her role as Lola Rosales in The Young and the Restless. She also appeared in the short film The White Shoes and the miniseries Socially Awkward. She will be the first Latina actress to take on the role of Kara Zor-El.

Supergirl was originally played by Helen Slater in the 1984 film. Melissa Benoist would later take on the role in the Arrowverse series, which also starred Slater as Kara Danvers' adoptive mother.

Calle is expected to begin shooting for the film soon. The Flash movie is currently scheduled for release on November 4, 2022.
