The Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 9 was Basically an Epic Star Wars Movie

Some people might forget that Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a story based in the Star Wars Universe. After all, some have stated that it's simply an animated series featuring hundreds of clones and a bratty former padawan. But make no mistake, The Clone Wars has an important story to tell and the latest episode of Season 7 feels and looks like one of the best Star Wars films ever made.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers from Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 9. Proceed with caution.

The episode Old Friends Not Forgotten is not like the other Clone Wars episode for one important reason. This is the only episode of the animated series that opens with John Williams' original Star Wars theme and you'll realize that yes, this just might be a real Star Wars film. And it is because we are immediately treated to an amazing fight sequence featuring just about every Jedi you could think of that was fighting in the Clone War.

Of course, it isn't long before Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi get a message from Ahsoka Tano asking for the aid of the Republic to bring down Darth Maul. This leads to an awkward reunion between Ahsoka and her former master, who is clearly devastated that he couldn't help her this time. Instead, it is decided that Ahsoka will lead the 322nd along with Captain Rex while Anakin and Obi-Wan set off to deal with General Grievous.

The penultimate episode of the final season is certainly getting close to its climax but we'll still need to wait another week to see the Siege of Mandalore. However, Old Friends Not Forgotten just confirmed that after 12 long years (yes, we're counting the movie here), it's a battle that is well worth the wait.
