There is little doubt that The Book of Boba Fett will take place in the Mandalorian's current timeline. However, there is also a possibility that we'll get flashbacks on what happened to the bounty hunter before he reemerged in the Disney+ series. So will the new Star Wars show solve the mystery of Jango Fett's helmet?
Jango's helmet is something that fans immediately connect with Boba. In Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, the scene where a young Boba picking up his father's helmet was one of the most poignant images in the film. The helmet seems important but Boba actually lost it a long time ago.
So what happened to Jango's helmet? As it turns out, Boba had actually lost the helmet long in an effort to avenge his father's death.
Boba cherished his father's armor, as proven when he finally got it back in The Mandalorian Season 2. Boba immediately repainted the armor to make it look good as new. However, the helmet he was wearing wasn't the original one worn by Jango.
In Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2, Boba found a chance to avenge his father and tried to kill the man who killed Jango. In the episode R2 Come Home, Boba caused the Republic's Endurance to crash on the planet Vanqor.
When he realized that Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi will be looking through the ship for survivors, he decided to try and get rid of them during their mission. Boba rigged a bomb inside Jango's helmet then placed it in the ship's bridge.
The plan almost worked as Windu and Obi-Wan were both on the ship when the bomb detonated. However, they still managed to escape certain death and live another day.
There's a possibility that we'll get to see Jango's old armor in flashback scenes in the series. This would mean we will still get to watch a young Boba in action and learn more about what happened to him after his father's death.
The Book of Boba Fett has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
