Tenet Final Trailer Reveals Two Separate Timelines in Christopher Nolan Film

It looks like nothing is going to stop Tenet from hitting theaters next month. The final trailer for the Christopher Nolan film has just been dropped and it somehow confirms that audiences will be seeing two different timelines happening at the same time.

The trailer opens with the Protagonist coming out of a building and somehow stepping on a puddle that reacts differently. Why is the water acting so odd? The scientist explains by showing him two bullets, one of which is said to be travelling back in time. With the flick of a hand, she reveals that one of the bullets is actually moving backwards.

From there, it's just a series of action-packed shots but we also get to see Kenneth Branagh's Russian oligarch who is understandably doubtful of the Protagonist. Will he realize that the man is from the future? We'll find out for sure next in September.

Tenet also stars Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Clemence Poesy, Michael Caine and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Although the film was initially set to premiere earlier this year, the release was pushed back due to the coronavirus outbreak. Nevertheless, there is no stopping the movie from becoming the first major project to be screened in theaters after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The synopsis for Tenet reads as follows:

"John David Washington is the new Protagonist in Christopher Nolan's original sci-fi action spectacle Tenet.
Armed with only one word—Tenet—and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.
Not time travel. Inversion."

Tenet will premiere on September 3.
