Tenet Director Christopher Nolan Almost Stopped Robert Pattinson From The Batman Audition

People are finally coming to terms with the fact that Robert Pattinson is the new Bruce Wayne. However, there was a time when the Twilight star almost didn't get to audition for The Batman. The Tenet star has just admitted that director Christopher Nolan almost stopped him from trying out for the lead role in the upcoming DC Extended Universe flick.

Pattinson was already working on Tenet when he got the offer to audition for The Batman. However, he had one other thing to worry about before he could try out for the part.

"It's funny because Chris is so secretive about everything to do with his movies," Pattinson told The Irish Times. "And then I had to be really secretive about Batman stuff. So I had to lie to Chris about having to go for a screen test – I said I had a family emergency. And as soon as I said ‘it's a family emergency' he said: ‘You're doing the Batman audition, aren't you?'"

We're not even surprised that Nolan was immediately aware of what was happening. After all, he had directed the Dark Knight film trilogy for Warner Bros. Luckily, Nolan eventually allowed Pattinson to audition for the role in the Matt Reeves movie and the rest is, as they say, history.

Tenet will premiere on September 3. The Batman will also star Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Jayme Lawson, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The film is scheduled for release on October 1, 2021.
