Stranger Things Showrunners Team up with Steven Spielberg for Stephen King's The Talisman

There is little doubt that the Duffer brothers are doing a great job on Stranger Things but the showrunners may have found the perfect project for their skillset. The Duffers are set to work on the series adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub's The Talisman which will be produced by Steven Spielberg.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Matt and Ross Duffer will serve as executive producers on the upcoming adaptation of the 1984 novel. Curtis Gwinn, a writer who has worked on Stranger Things, will pen and executive produce the show with the Duffers. Spielberg's Amblin Television and Paramount Television Studios will produce in association with Netflix.

The project isn't a new one considering that Spielberg has been aiming to adapt the novel for several decades. Although it was initially expected to be made into a movie, the decision to turn The Talisman into a series is a welcome one since it means that the sprawling universe could be explored.

Personally, this is amazing news because The Talisman is one of my personal favorites. It still feels like a fever dream knowing that the Duffer brothers will be working on the project. Needless to say, it's going to be one of the most exciting shows to look forward to on Netflix.

The Talisman follows 12-year-old Jack Sawyer as he sets out to find a crystal known as "The Talisman" in an effort to save his cancer-stricken mother from certain death. In his journey, Jack stumbles upon a fantasy land called the Territories where parallel individuals exist and suffer the same fate as their twin who lives in our world.

The adaptation of The Talisman is still in the early stages of development. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
