Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Might Confirm General Hux Betrays The First Order

General Armitage Hux is undoubtedly one of the most underappreciated characters in the Star Wars Universe. Although he has spent most of his life proving himself to the First Order, he's still only second best to Kylo Ren. However, this isn't the reason why Hux might betray the First Order and join the Resistance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

There is little doubt that there has always been some conflict between Hux and Kylo Ren but the two are now truly forced to work with each other after the death of Supreme Leader Snoke. Although Hux had wanted to be the Supreme Leader, he was overpowered by Kylo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But is it possible that Hux has found a way to take control? A new theory suggests that a new character might unwittingly help Hux reach his goal.

The theory was posted on Reddit and suggests that Hux's position will be threatened by the arrival of Allegiant General Pryde and the Sith Fleet he commands. At this point, Hux may have already taken control of the First Order but is forced to submit to Pryde. However, he isn't one to give up so easily so he could surrender to the Resistance and help them defeat the First Order.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as it sounds. Hux could then doublecross the Resistance and try to take the Sith Fleet from Pryde. The theory then points out that Hux could end up being killed somewhere along the way while the First Order and the Resistance work together to fight the Sith Fleet.

That's certainly a lot to take in but we wouldn't be surprised if Hux attempts the dangerous plan. In the meantime, it is best to take this with a grain of salt.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit theaters on December 20.
