Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 10 Reveals Darth Maul's True Intentions

The tenth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 has just confirmed something that fans have been wondering about for some time now: The animated series has finally crossed over into Revenge of the Sith territory. In addition to that, The Phantom Apprentice revealed what Darth Maul's plans have been all along.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers from Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 10. Proceed with caution.

In The Phantom Apprentice, Ahsoka Tano faced off against Maul briefly before the latter escapes. Interestingly, he somehow mentioned Darth Sidious and Ahsoka immediately relays the information to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan then confirms that he inferred from Count Dooku that Sidious is the mastermind behind the Clone Wars. Unfortunately, they could no longer use Dooku as their witness because Anakin Skywalker killed him.

That's not the only part of Revenge of the Sith that is teased in the episode. Obi-Wan also informs Ahsoka that they are unable to come to her aid since both he and Anakin have been sent off to different missions. Obi-Wan would have to track down General Grievous while Anakin will spy on Palpatine. Luckily, it looks like Ahsoka is fully capable of taking on Maul on her own.

And so we get to see an epic lightsaber duel between Ahsoka and Maul. In addition to that, Maul also reveals something unexpected to Ahsoka: He had planned to lure both Obi-Wan and Anakin because he wanted to kill Anakin. Maul states that this is because Sidious intends to turn Anakin into the Dark Side.

It's interesting to note that Ahsoka was aware of Sidious' plans for Anakin. This only makes her confrontation against Darth Vader even more emotional.
