It's May the 4th and that means it's time to celebrate Star Wars Day. Luckily, Disney+ has the best way to celebrate as the first episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Here's our review of Episode 1 so watch out for mild spoilers ahead!

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 1 is an epic-sized premiere that feels more like a movie than an episode of an animated series. Aftermath is 72 minutes long and it holds its own against Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

To someone who has never seen The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch Episode 1 could serve as an awesome introduction to the Clone Troopers who served the Republic until it was replaced by the Galactic Empire. The premiere episode once again revisits the events of Order 66 but shows it from the perspective of Clone Force 99, who are surprisingly resistant to the effects of their embedded Inhibitor chips.

Interestingly, not all of them can resist their orders which serves as a problem for the team. There is little doubt that this will be something to explore in the next few episodes of The Bad Batch.

While it's an awesome introduction to the world of Clone Troopers, The Bad Batch is also a must-watch for anyone who enjoyed The Clone Wars. In addition to bringing back some beloved characters who played an integral role in the previous series, The Bad Batch addresses a question we all had while watching The Clone Wars: What happened to the clones after Order 66?

One of the biggest mysteries in the Star Wars Universe was undoubtedly the Empire's decision to retire the Clone Troopers in favor of conscripted human Stormtroopers. Why choose humans when you have elite soldiers that can be controlled? Luckily, that's something that will finally be answered in The Bad Batch but through the eyes of the clones themselves.

Overall, Aftermath is an excellent way to dive back into the Star Wars Universe and explore the rise of the Empire through the eyes of some unusual heroes. The best thing about The Bad Batch Episode 1 is how it immediately reintroduced fans to Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Echo, and Crosshair. Additionally, we meet the adorable Omega, a young clone who is expected to play a major role in the series.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 1 is definitely a great episode to watch on Star Wars Day. With that in mind, we can't wait to see what's in store for Clone Force 99 in the following week.

You can now watch Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 1 on Disney+.
