Star Wars: Rian Johnson Might Direct an Episode of The Mandalorian Season 2

There is little doubt that The Mandalorian is a huge success for Star Wars right now. But what can fans look forward to in the show's second season? There's a possibility that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson could join the Baby Yoda hype.

Johnson was recently a guest on the Reel Blend podcast where he admitted that he wants to work on an episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 (via Cinemablend).

"H*** Yeah! Man, if I had the time, I would get in there in a heartbeat," Johnson said. He also confirmed that he had seen how the series was made and was impressed with what he saw.

"I had a set visit for Season 1 and it looked amazing. It looked like so much fun!" he said.

So what are the chances that Johnson would actually helm an episode of The Mandalorian Season 2? For now, it doesn't seem likely since the Knives Out director is already expected to work on his own Star Wars trilogy. Nevertheless, it is a possibility since Lucasfilm prefers to work with directors that have proven their skill. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The second season of The Mandalorian is already in production but there aren't a lot of updates about how the series is going. In the meantime, fans can watch the first three episodes of Season 1 on Disney+. The fourth episode titled Chapter Four will begin streaming on November 29.
