Star Wars: Oscar Isaac Wanted Finn and Poe Romance in The Rise of Skywalker

It seems like one of the greatest bromances in the Star Wars Universe is the one between Finn and Poe Dameron. But should the two become more than just friends? Oscar Isaac has just confirmed that he wanted his character to be with the former Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Isaac recently spoke to The Morning Call where he admitted he was expecting Finn and Poe to become an item.

"I mean, there was an absolute natural chemistry with him. I immediately felt very connected to him," Isaac said of his friendship with John Boyega. He then shared how the bond between them developed rather quickly.

"I remember it was an audition and the two of us just, like, did that first scene back to back, butt to butt, you know, just doing the scene together, practicing it in this room," Isaac said. "It was just immediately all kind of artifice; everything just collapsed, and there's an intimacy that was very just there."

But would Disney and Lucasfilm actually consider bringing the popular ship between Poe and Finn. Isaac was quick to point out that although it seemed like the way to go, he wasn't the one making decisions.

"Personally, I kind of hoped and wished that maybe that would have been taken further in the other films, but I don't have control over that," Isaac said. "It seemed like a natural progression, but, you know, it's still — sadly enough — it's [still] a time where people are too afraid."

Although The Rise of Skywalker didn't actually make Stormpilot a reality, Poe was given a former love interest in Zorri Bliss. It isn't the same as the obvious chemistry between Poe and Finn, but it will have to do for now.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is screening in theaters worldwide.
