Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Reportedly Begins Filming This Week

It looks like Disney and Lucasfilm are speeding things up for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi. A new leak reveals that the Disney+ series starring Ewan McGregor will begin filming this week.

The leak comes from Kessel Run Transmissions host Corey Van Dyke, who shared the news on Twitter. Check it out below.

This is an exciting update although several fans were quick to point out that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced during Disney Investor Day that the Kenobi series will begin production in March. Interestingly, a fan comment stated that "the shoot was moved up to January."

So is it true that Disney and Lucasfilm have decided to move the filming for Obi-Wan Kenobi to the start of the year? It's certainly possible considering that there have been reports that the series will include Temeura Morrison, who is currently the busiest Star Wars actor.

In addition to headlining The Book of Boba Fett and showing up in The Mandalorian Season 3, Morrison is expected to play Commander Cody in the Kenobi show as well. There is a huge possibility that the studios have decided to move filming up so the Aquaman star can complete work on Kenobi before starting on the other shows. However, it is important to point out that these details have not yet been confirmed so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is a limited series that will be directed by The Mandalorian's Deborah Chow. In addition to McGregor and Morrison, the show will bring back Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. The series is expected to premiere on Disney+ next year.
