Star Wars Death Star Trends on Twitter as Donald Trump Announces Reelection Campaign

There is little doubt that the Death Star is one of the most iconic things from the Star Wars Universe. But one actually uses it as the name of a re-election campaign? That's exactly what Donald Trump has done and it has caused "Death Star" to enjoy new popularity on social media.

Trump's campaign manager Brad Parscale recently tweeted about the reelection campaign and dubbed it "Death Star." Take a look at his tweet below.

"For nearly three years we have been building a juggernaut campaign (Death Star). It is firing on all cylinders. Data, Digital, TV, Political, Surrogates, Coalitions, etc.," Parscale wrote. "In a few days, we start pressing FIRE for the first time."

Interestingly, Parscale later added to the tweet by stating that he "didn't give our campaign the name" and that it was "the media" that offered the name. "However, I am happy to use the analogy. The fact is, we haven't used it yet. Laugh all you want, we will take the win!" he wrote.

Not surprisingly, people have a lot to say about the use of "Death Star" and the whole idea that it was built by the Galactic Empire.

The first Death Star was first revealed in A New Hope in 1977 but the space station was promptly blown up in the film. Interestingly, a second (and much bigger) second Death Star was featured in Return of the Jedi although it also suffered the same fate. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a similar (and even bigger) superweapon called the Starkiller Base was introduced but like its predecessors, didn't last beyond one movie.
