Star Trek: Prodigy Reveals First Look at Animated Captain Janeway

The best thing about First Contact Day is all the awesome updates on the upcoming shows. Although we didn't get a trailer for Star Trek: Prodigy, the highly-anticipated series dropped our first look at the animated Captain Kathryn Janeway.

Star Trek: Prodigy was one of the shows that got its own virtual panel at First Contact Day that was attended by series executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman. The Hagenmans shared the image of Kate Mulgrew's Janeway which comes in the form of a poster teasing the show's release.

We also got some interesting new details about Star Trek: Prodigy during the panel. It was confirmed that the upcoming series will be set in the year 2383. This means it will be happening after the events of Star Trek: Voyager. Moreover, the show is set in the Delta Quadrant.

But how big is Janeway's role in the animated series? According to the creators, Mulgrew's character will serve as Prodigy's built-in emergency training hologram. Hopefully, this means Janeway will be helping the young crew throughout the show.

It's awesome to see that the animated Janeway looks exactly like Mulgrew and we're definitely looking forward to her serving as an important guide to Prodigy's crew. After all, the crew is young and they will need all the help they can get in the series.

Star Trek: Prodigy has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, the animated series is set to premiere on Paramount+ before the end of the year.
