We already know that John de Lancie will return as Q in Star Trek: Picard Season 2. However, it looks like he's going to be with the show for a longer time. De Lancie himself has somehow confirmed that he might be working on episodes for the third season.
It has already been confirmed that Star Trek: PicardSeason 2 is currently in production. However, de Lancie has just teased that not all episodes being filmed right now are for the second season. In a Cameo video where he interacted with Trekkies, the Star Trek: The Next Generation actor dropped hints at Q being a major part of Season 3 as well.
"Q is coming back," de Lancie said. "As a matter of fact, for the last two weeks I have been filming on Picard and really annoying Picard – really annoying him."
He continued by admitting that he enjoys laughing around with Patrick Stewart although his co-star isn't exactly thrilled that they are spending so much quality time together.
"Patrick was delighted to see me for the first couple of days and after a couple of more days of really annoying scenes, he said, 'So, how many episodes are you doing?' In other words, ‘When are you going to get out of my face?' And the answer is six episodes," de Lancie stated.
This is already interesting on its own but de Lancie went on to reveal that production isn't just for the second season.
"I think they are going to be coming out – actually, I don't know. But we are shooting Season 2 and 3 all at the same time right now," he confirmed.
We're loving this revelation since it means that Star Trek: Picard is already preparing for its next season. However, Paramount+ has not yet renewed the show for Season 3. Luckily, it will only be a matter of time before the next season is announced.
There is little doubt that Star Trek: Picard Season 3 will be just as amazing as the first season. We're hoping that the third season will be confirmed as soon as possible. Stay tuned more for updates on this story.
Star Trek: Picard Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date but is set to premiere on Paramount+ in 2022.
