There is little doubt that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one of the highly-anticipated sequels but details about the movie are still being kept under wraps. However, it looks like some people already know who they want to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. The star of the animated Spider-Man series has just volunteered to play the villainous Nightmare in Doctor Strange 2.
Christopher Daniel Barnes is known for providing the voice of Peter Parker and other Marvel characters in the animated Spider-Man series that aired in the 90s. He's a successful voice actor, having previously played Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid. However, there's one role that he wants to take on in hopes of joining the MCU.
"I would like to play Nightmare in Doctor Strange," Barnes said at a panel during Wizard World Virtual Experiences for Fandom. "It's a fascinating character, and I think it would be a lot of voice over and CGI."
That's an interesting choice considering that Nightmare is known for going up against the Sorceror Supreme as well as Ghost Rider. But what are the chances that Barnes will get to portray the Marvel villain in Doctor Strange 2?
"Of course, they wouldn't hire me, but that's what I would love to do," Barnes said with a laugh. "It's dark, it's psychological, it's interesting, and it's a very, very wicked character."
Of course, it might be too soon to tell. After all, Marvel Studios might decide that Nightmare's introduction is the best way to bring Ghost Rider into the MCU. For now, nothing has been confirmed but we will be waiting for some updates on the sequel.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be directed by Sam Raimi and will bring back Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Elizabeth Olsen. The film is scheduled for release on March 25, 2022.
