Spider-Man 3: Alfred Molina Confirms Doc Ock Return in No Way Home

It has already been reported that Doc Ock will be back in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, Alfred Molina has made it official with a new confirmation about his character's return in the upcoming sequel.

Molina recently spoke to Variety where he admitted that he was told to stay quiet about his involvement in Spider-Man 3. However, the veteran actor stated that Doc Ock's return has been reported so often that everybody already knows about it.

"When we were shooting it, we were all under orders not to talk about it, because it was supposed to be some great big secret," Molina laughed. "But, you know, it's all over the internet. I actually described myself as the worst kept secret in Hollywood!"

Molina originally played the villain in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 back in 2004 and in the film, his character actually died. This was something that he pointed out to No Way Home director Jon Watts who had an interesting response to the detail: "In this universe, no one really dies."

That's an interesting thought considering that a lot of characters have been killed off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have never been heard of again. On the other hand, Molina's Doc Ock originates from the Raimi-Verse and since the MCU has already introduced the idea of the multiverse, it would make sense for certain villains to come back.

Doc Ock isn't the only previously introduced Spider-Man villain who will show up in No Way Home. Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in the Andrew Garfield movies, has been confirmed to join Spider-Man 3 as well. With that in mind, the upcoming sequel is going to be an interesting one.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will also star Tom Holland as Peter Parker. The film is scheduled for release on December 17, 2021.
