Sonic the Hedgehog Star Ben Schwartz Says Playing Sega Character is 'a Dream Come True'

Imagine being able to play a character that you have loved since childhood. That's exactly what Ben Schwartz is doing in Sonic the Hedgehog. The Parks and Recreation star has just opened up about providing the voice of the blue speedster and he admitted that it's a "dream come true" for him.

Schwartz was recently a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he promoted his new film. Interestingly, Schwartz confirmed that he has been a huge fan of the Sega game ever since he was a child.

"It's crazy, because I played it in 1991," Schwartz said. "I was a huge fan of the games, and then when they're making this film, and they asked if I would do it -- it's like a dream come true. 'cause now I get to be the voice."

Not surprisingly, Schwartz is aware that some people (we're talking about kids here) will be seeing Sonic for the first time when they watch the movie. With that in mind, he can't believe that he will be connected to the character that he adored in his childhood.

"Maybe some people watch it now, and I'll be the way that they're getting introduced to the character. It's crazy. It blows my mind," Schwartz said.

So far, it sounds like Schwartz has done a really great job at providing the voice of Sonic and we can't wait to hear more of him in the future. Hopefully, Sonic will lead to more films featuring Schwartz in the future.

Sonic the Hedgehog will hit theaters on February 14.
