The long wait is finally over. The Shin Megami Tensei V release date has just been revealed in a stunning announcement trailer that also features some gameplay footage.
The trailer was dropped during Nintendo's presentation at E3 2021 and it hypes up the latest Shin Megami Tensei title. The trailer opens with the protagonist living a fairly normal life as a high school student in Tokyo. However, this changes when they are pulled into a different dimension where angels and demons have taken over the city.
That's not the only huge thing happening in the trailer. A mysterious being suddenly swoops in and fuses with the protagonist, giving him the strength and power to fight against demons.
The gameplay footage confirms that the objective is to go after demons. We don't know much else but there is little doubt we'll be learning more about the title soon.
The description for Shin Megami Tensei V reads as follows:
"The ambitions of god and human clash amidst the horror of a dying world. Neither human nor demon, the newly-forged Nahobino and his friends must decide what is worth saving... and prepare to sacrifice everything in its name. In a world without its Creator, which path will you choose?"
The fifth Shin Megami Tensei is being developed and published by Atlus. Shin Megami Tensei IV director Kazuyuki Yamai has also been confirmed to produce the game which explains why the new title feels like a hybrid between the fourth game and Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne.
Shin Megami Tensei V is now available for pre-order. It is scheduled for release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
