Oscar Isaac Reveals Why He Took Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid Movie

Oscar Isaac might be playing Marc Spector in the Moon Knight series soon but that's not the only iconic role that the Dune star will tackle in the future. Isaac has already been cast as Solid Snake in the planned Metal Gear Solid film and the actor has just revealed why he agreed to portray Konami's special operations soldier.

Back in December, it was announced that Isaac will play Solid Snake in Jordan Voght-Roberts' film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid. People were pleased with the news considering that the Ex Machina star had been a fan favorite to take on the role.

It's a major role that would have been irresistible to any actor considering it means possible sequels and a hefty paycheck. However, Isaac revealed that he had other reasons for agreeing to portray Solid Snake in the live-action movie adaptation.

"I just love the game," Isaac told Total Film. He then admitted that he often plays the Metal Gear Solid games and truly enjoys it.

"I love the feeling that the game would give me every time I'd play. It's just a strangely isolated, mournful, lonely game to play that has these incredible moments of violence and terror, with these weird, psychedelic concepts and villains," Isaac added. "But, yes, it's kind of like psychedelic military horror things that happen."

It's not hard to imagine why Isaac enjoys the game so much. Metal Gear Solid forces the player to use tactics to complete missions. With that in mind, we are looking forward to seeing how Isaac will portray the game's protagonist.

The Metal Gear Solid film has not yet been given an official release date. In the meantime, Isaac will appear as Duke Leto Atreides in Dune on October 22, 2021.
