We're finally getting more updates on the Little Mermaid reboot now that the film is in production. The latest set photo reveals Halle Bailey in an iconic outfit from the Disney animated classic, which could confirm that the remake is staying true to the source material.

Bailey was previously spotted on the set of The Little Mermaid wearing a wetsuit. Not surprisingly, fans were disappointed considering that they were expecting Ariel's famous clamshells and bright green fishtail.

Although the first glimpse was disappointing for fans, it looks like the upcoming reboot will still stay turn to the animated flick. New photos that were taken from the set feature Bailey in a dress made of sack, just like the one Ariel wore when she ended up on the shore with her new legs. Check it out here.

We're loving the idea of Bailey in that iconic dress. Fans who have seen the images also agree that the outfit is on point and that the actress is perfect for the role. On the other hand, some pointed out that Bailey's hair could be redder just like in the Disney animated film.

It's a great costume considering that this is one of the most famous outfits from the original movie. It's also the dress that Ariel wore where she officially meets Prince Eric so there's a chance we'll see him on the set too. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The Little Mermaid will also star Jonah Hauer-King, Javier Bardem, Melissa McCarthy, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, and Awkwafina.
