Netflix's Shadow and Bone Series Casts Baghra, The Apparat, and More


The highly anticipated Shadow and Bone series appears to be moving forward steadily. The upcoming Netflix series has just confirmed new cast members that will include Baghra and The Apparat.

According to Deadline, Harry Potter star Zoe Wanamaker has joined the cast of the show that will be based on The Grisha Trilogy. Wanamaker will portray Baghra, the tutor who trains Alina Starkov and is somehow connected to the Grisha leader the Darkling. Wanamaker is best known for playing Madam Hooch in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

The series has also added Game of Thrones actor Kevin Eldon as The Apparat, the spiritual advisor serving the Ravka royal family whose intentions are rather unclear. Eldon will be joined by newcomer Calahan Skogman as Mathias Helvar, Julian Kostov as Fedyor Kaminsky, Luke Pasqualino as David Kostyk, Jasmine Blackborow as Marie, and Gabrielle Brooks as Nadia Zhabin.

Shadow and Bone will star Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, a young soldier who discovers a power that could potentially unite her country. However, there are several obstacles as she trains, including her own connection to the Darkling, who will be played by The Punisher star Ben Barnes.

The show is being developed by Eric Heisserer of Bird Box, Shawn Levy and 21 Laps Entertainment. It will consist of eight episodes that could cover the first book of the book series by Leigh Bardugo. For now, Shadow and Bone does not yet have an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
