Netflix has once again provided the world with something we didn't know we wanted: A period piece set in medieval Korea filled with terrifying zombies. However, it isn't the undead that people are raving about in Kingdom. Instead, people simply couldn't get over all the awesome hats in the series.
Kingdom is set in the real-life Joseon dynasty which was founded in 1392 but was replaced by the Korean Empire in 1897. Although it is a fictional tale involving a zombie outbreak, the costume design is based on real Joseon fashion during the day. Interestingly, the zombie attack couldn't distract viewers from the amazing hats that were worn during the era.

Netflix's Kingdom is so damn good. And the best part of the show, of course, is the hats pic.twitter.com/mw1JIrIO6f

Really enjoying KINGDOM on Netflix, the Joseon era Korean zombie show, but can we talk about all the hats in the show for a hot second? I need a scholar of Korean history to unpack all of these lids. pic.twitter.com/ykv9gMsrw4

Someone even decided to explain why the hats were an important part of Kingdom.
OK let's talk a little bit about all the hats in the show KINGDOM on Netflix ? As Percival Lowell said in <the Land of Morning Calm>(1885), Joseon was the "Nation of Hats". It may be easier for you guys to understand the kinds of hats in East Asia, by this words. pic.twitter.com/OuiXbx1M2C

Perhaps there is something about the hats that have been a lucky charm for the series. Kingdom is already set for a second season, as confirmed last year. This means we'll be seeing more of the amazing headgear really soon.
The synopsis for Kingdom reads as follows:
"Set in Korea’s medieval Joseon period, it tells the story of a prince, who becomes embroiled in a coup/political conspiracy and is forced to embark upon a dangerous mission to investigate a mysterious plague spreading across his country. The truth threatens the kingdom when he discovers that it is an atrocious epidemic in the form of undead who raise at sunset seemingly and become inactive during the sunrise. Now things seem to hang in balance by a thin thread of hope to survive."
The series stars Sense8 alum Bae Doona as well as Korean superstars Ju Ji Hoon and Ryu Seung Ryong.
Kingdom is currently streaming on Netflix.
