There is little doubt that Ms. Marvel is one of the most anticipated shows that will air next year. Luckily, we now have an awesome official look at Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series.
The sizzle reel for Ms. Marvel was dropped during Disney Investor Day and it opens with executive producer Bisha K. Ali pointing out that Kamala is "a new kind of superhero." However, she is also quick to say that "at the core of it all, her story's so universal."
Ali isn't wrong about that. Although Kevin Feige states that Kamala is one of the newer superheroes introduced in the comic books, she has already inspired millions of people since, as supervising producer Jenna Berger points out, "everybody could see themselves in her."
Interestingly, the teaser also confirms that the crew immediately agreed that Vellani would be the perfect Kamala as soon as she auditioned for the role. The young actress was clearly overwhelmed when she got the news. Nevertheless, she was also delighted to be given the honor to play the beloved comic book character.
Ms. Marvel will be directed by an impressive list of directors including Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon. The series will also star Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. The show is set to premiere on Disney+ in late 2021.
