Ming-Na Wen Comments on Disney Delaying Mulan Premiere Over Coronavirus Scare

In case you missed it, Disney has decided to postpone the premiere of its upcoming live-action remake of the animated classic Mulan. The delay was attributed to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) although there were previous concerns that the House of Mouse would choose to push through with the film's release. Interestingly, Ming-Na Wen has commented on Disney's announcement, calling it "the best decision."

Wen, who voiced Mulan in the 1998 film, took to Twitter to share an article about the live-action remake being postponed. The star of The Mandalorian also added an interesting caption to her post. Take a look at her tweet below.

"I had a feeling @mulan would be postponed. @disney is making the best decision," Wen wrote. "Looking forward to a future with this pandemic behind us. Stay safe, everyone."

We have to agree with Wen on this one. After all, Disney is aiming to win at the Chinese box office with Mulan. Unfortunately, China also happens to be the one country that is greatly affected by COVID-19 at the moment. Needless to say, the decision to wait until a later date was a good one for the studio.

The synopsis for Mulan reads as follows:

"When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Chinese Army to defend the country from Huns, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. She is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. Disguised as a man by the name of Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her innermost strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation...and a proud father."

Mulan was scheduled for release on March 27 but is expected to premiere at a later date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
