Mahershala Ali's Blade MCU Reboot Gets Hopeful Update

It looks like the Blade reboot is finally moving forward. A new report reveals that Marvel Studios is currently looking for writers to work on the highly anticipated project that will star Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire hunter.

It has already been confirmed during last year's San Diego Comic-Con that Ali will lead the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of Blade although there were no other names attached to the project. There haven't been any updates about the film since then other than several fan-made art and poster imagining the Academy Award winner as the character that was originally played by Wesley Snipes. However, Marvel Studios might now be hoping to move forward with the movie as the demand for POC writers is getting stronger in Hollywood.

An in-depth article published by The Hollywood Reporter reveals that several studios are now aiming to employ POC writers to work on projects. Interestingly, it was confirmed that Marvel Studios happens to be one of these companies and they have plans for a particular film.

"Current projects that studios are hoping to populate with Black behind-the-camera talent include Marvel's Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali, which is looking for writers," the report reads.

This is welcome news for fans who have been hoping for representation as well as an update on Blade. However, it has not yet been revealed whether Marvel Studios has already found a screenwriter for the project.

The Blade reboot has not yet been given an official production start date nor a release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
