Lord of the Rings Star Viggo Mortensen Reveals Unexpected Aragorn Deleted Scene

There is probably nothing that fans would want to change about the Lord of the Rings film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson. However, it looks like there is one particular scene that Viggo Mortensen has stayed in the movies. The Return of the King star has revealed that there was a deleted scene focusing on Aragorn and Arwen that he was hoping would be in the theatrical release.

Mortensen recently spoke to NME where he discussed his work on the Lord of the Rings films and he revealed he actually filmed a sequence that shows Aragorn during his younger years.

"There was a scene that we shot as a sort of memory flashback. It was from the courtship days when he first met Arwen – and we shot it just before we were taking a break so I was clean-shaven and prettied up," Mortensen said. Interestingly, he shared some cool details about the scene as well.

"They'd tried to make me look as young as possible. I had different hair and I was dressed like an elf. It was a scene from the book where they're walking in this flowery meadow," Mortensen said. He then added that it seemed like an unnecessary scene but he loved working on it.

"It was a beautiful sequence but obviously it wasn't needed for the movie. I've never seen it but I enjoyed shooting that scene. It'd be nice to see it actually, it's not in the extended editions either," Mortensen concluded.

It certainly sounds like something that the movies could do without but it would still be nice to get a glimpse at the young Aragorn falling in love with Liv Tyler's character. We're not sure if the scene will ever be made available but we'll be keeping an eye out for it.
