Loki Star Sophia Di Martino Reveals Whether Sylvie is Lady Loki or Enchantress

It's been two weeks since we learned that the fugitive Variant in Loki is a female version of the God of Mischief and that she goes by the name Sylvie. But is she the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Lady Loki or Enchantress? Sophia Di Martino has just revealed the truth about her mysterious character.

In the episode The Variant, it was revealed that the fugitive is a female who doesn't exactly want to be associated with Loki. In the same episode, the character's name was confirmed to be Sylvie and this launched several theories about her. For instance, some believe that she is the MCU's version of Lady Loki while others argue that she is actually Sylvie Lushton aka Enchantress.

These are all plausible theories but we finally have the truth from the woman who plays Sylvie. Di Martino recently spoke to Screenrant where she was asked which theory is true. Interestingly, the Into The Badlands actress stated that neither theory is accurate.

"The character is Sylvie and she's her own character. The show is inspired by the comics and by lots of different things in the comics, but our story is a brand new story and a new backstory for Sylvie," Di Martino said.

It's disappointing that neither theory was right but also a relief to know that we're seeing a completely new character who can stand on her own. For now, it's safe to accept Sylvie as a Variant of the God of Mischief who has been through a lot in her past.

Loki Episode 3 is now streaming on Disney+ Di Martino returns as Sylvie in the fourth episode which is scheduled to premiere on June 30, 2021.
