Marvel's Loki series is already coming this year but the Disney+ series is still a mystery for most fans. Got questions about the upcoming Tom Hiddleston show? Here's everything you need to know about the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe series.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the Loki series will premiere in May 2021. However, the official release date has not yet been announced.
There are speculations that Loki will be released in late May to avoid any conflict with Black Widow, which hits theaters on May 7. Make sure to check this page for new updates.
The exclusive clip from Loki was dropped during Disney Investor Day in December last year. Although it featured awesome footage and clues on what to expect in the show, it is not yet the official trailer for the MCU series.
So when can we expect a full trailer for the Loki series? Fans might need to wait until March for some new footage. However, there is a possibility that Disney and Marvel will drop it earlier in February.
Tom Hiddleston will lead the cast of the Loki series. Although several actors have been confirmed to join the MCU star, their roles have not yet been specified.
Tom Hiddleston as Loki: The adoptive brother of Thor and God of Mischief returns after his death in Avengers: Infinity War. The version of Loki that appears in the series is the one who stole the Tesseract and escaped in Avengers: Endgame.
Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius: The mysterious Mobius was introduced in the teaser for Loki. He is a member of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the police organization that monitors changes in the timeline and multiverse.
Richard E. Grant was confirmed to join the cast of Loki although his role was undisclosed. However, there are speculations that Grant will portray an older version of Loki from a different timeline or multiverse.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Sasha Lane, and Wunmi Mosaku were all cast in undisclosed roles. Make sure to check this page for updates.
There have been several theories about the villain in Loki. Some believe that the God of Mischief himself will be the Big Bad while others point out that the teaser already dropped a clue about the true villain.
A brief shot of Mobius and a young girl features a mosaic in the background that depicts a horned man. The mosaic is believed to be Mephisto who is also rumored to be the main villain in WandaVision.
The Loki series timeline is rather complicated considering that the God of Mischief actually travels through time in the show. Although it is supposedly set in the future following the events in Endgame, it kicks off with Loki stealing the Tesseract after the Battle of New York in the first Avengers film.
For now, we are expecting the series to take place in the present. However, there will be several instances of Loki going to the past and maybe even the future.
The premise of Loki reads as follows:
"Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority organization after stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame, and travels through time altering human history using it, ending up trapped in his own crime thriller."
The Loki exclusive clip even suggested that the God of Mischief played several historical figures including the mysterious D.B. Cooper.
The show was created by Michael Waldron who also wrote the pilot. All episodes of the series were reportedly directed by Kate Herron.
Loki will consist of six episodes which will be 40–50 minutes in length. The episode titles and synopsis have not yet been announced but keep checking this page for updates.
It has been revealed that Waldron will continue to work with Marvel Studios and will be involved with Loki Season 2. However, the second season has not yet been officially announced.
