Loki Season 2 Set to Explore Judge Renslayer's Mysterious Backstory

The first season of Loki has just ended but people are already hyped up for Season 2. After all, things are about to get even crazier now that the multiverse has been unleashed.

So what can we expect in Loki Season 2? There is a huge possibility that we'll get to explore Judge Ravonna Renslayer's mysterious backstory in the next season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series.

Renslayer was undoubtedly one of the more ambiguous characters in Loki. Although fans felt that she had a villainous streak, it was later revealed that the former Hunter was just as confused about what is happening in the TVA as the rest of us.

By the end of the season, Renslayer set off on a mission after making contact with TVA creator He Who Remains. Needless to say, director Kate Herron believes that Loki Season 2 should explore Renslayer's story.

"I love her," Herron told Variety about Gugu Mbatha-Raw's character. "Gugu used to always call her an indoor girl, which made me laugh, but she is. She's in the office, but she used to be this kick-ass Hunter. So I'm like, Okay, well, where's her path going?"

Herron continued that viewers didn't get to see Renslayer's memories but it's something she is hoping will be shown in Loki Season 2.

"It's a character that thought they had power and realizes they have no power. It felt really powerful to at least give her some power in that scenario. The memories are private. They're hers. Also as a fan, I'm like, ‘Oh my God, who is she?!'" Herron said.

We already know that Renslayer was the Hunter who took Sylvie into the TVA when the Variant was just a child. Interestingly, it was Renslayer's TemPad that gave Sylvie the chance to escape so she shouldn't have earned a promotion to Judge. On the other hand, there's still a lot we need to learn about Renslayer and hopefully we will in Loki Season 2.

Although Herron sounds like she has interesting ideas for the second season, the director has already confirmed that she will not be back to the show's second chapter. With that in mind, the premise of Loki Season 2 is still a huge mystery.

All episodes of Loki are now streaming on Disney+. Loki Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date.
